Tour the Great Wall

The US delegation visited one of China’s most spectacular and meaningful tourist destination, the Great Wall of China. The delegation appreciated the deep cultural value of the Great Wall and listened closely to the relevant Chinese history explanation.

Faced with such a magnificent structure, the delegates expressed their sincere amazement.

Taste China's Local Delicacies

Food is an integral part of China’s traditional culture. As such, it is a must to bring the delegates to enjoy various Chinese traditional delicacies! The US delegation tasted signature dishes that includes dumplings at Shanghai’s Ding Taifeng and the roast duck in Beijing. They expressed their delight at the exquisite flavor of the Chinese food, its variety having left a lasting impression on these delegates.

Tour Cultural Sites in  Hunan

The US delegation made their way to Shaoshan, hometown of the first leader of People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong. The delegation gained an in-depth understanding of his revolutionary efforts. 

 

Later, they headed for Orange Island Park as beautifully described in the poem penned by Mao himself.

That afternoon, the delegation arrived at Tongguan Kiln, seeking to learn about the pottery culture which has been in existence for more than a thousand years. 

Tour Sichuan Cultural Sites

During their stay in China, the US delegates toured a series of cultural sites in Sichuan province.  

 

The delegates visited Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and learnt about the pandas’ important role as China’s cultural ambassadors. In Deyang’s Sanxingdui, the delegates further explored Sichuan's history and culture as they learned more about the pre-Qin Dynasty Bronze Age. During their time in Sanxingdui, which reflects a history of more than 3,000 years, they were amazed by the long history of the profound Chinese culture.

The trip to Mianzhu New Year Painting Village brought the delegation into the artistic life of the Sichuan-Chongqing region and the spiritual world of the Chinese people. The “farm-stay”experience made them more in touch with the new rural life in China. In their visit to Mianzhu Jiannanchun Group, the delegates became acquainted with traditional Chinese wine-making that has a history of 1,500 years. To the delegates, this wine culture dating back to the Tang dynasty was a special historical journey.

Visit Cultural Sites in Tianjin

The US delegates toured the Tianjin Cultural Centre, a public cultural venue where the Museum, Library and Art Museum are situated. The visit to the 3 attractions provided the delegates with new insights into Tianjin and local Chinese culture. They ended the night splendidly; taking in the beautiful night sights of Tianjin City on-board a boat as it cruised along the Haihe River.

Visit Yuanmingyuan Park and South Luogu Lane

The US delegates returned to Beijing and visited several culturally and historically significant attractions. At Yuanmingyuan Park (Old Summer Palace), the members experienced the solemnness and historical significance of the site. Afterwards, they visited South Luogu Lane, one of the oldest preserved alleyways in Beijing with a unique fusion of ancient and modern cultures. The visits left the delegation with a good impression of Chinese history and culture.

Tour Great Wall, Palace Museum and Temple of Heaven

During their stay in Beijing, the US delegates also toured a series of cultural sites.

 

The US delegation toured the Jiayuguan Pass of the Great Wall, witnessing the landscape, which furthers their understanding of the significance of the Great Wall in China’s history and culture. The tour to the Palace Museum and the Temple of Heaven gave the delegation the opportunity to experience the magnificent ancient Chinese palace complex, various antiques and royal sacrificial worship culture. The delegates were so amazed by the profound and longstanding Chinese culture.

Visit Cultural Sites in Hainan Province

During their stay in Hainan, the US delegates toured a series of cultural sites.

 

The US delegates traveled to Shamei Village of Qionghai City. Since the implementation of the Beautiful Village project, in just a few months, Shamei Village has greatly improved its appearance, infrastructure, and facilitated its innovative businesses. After the visit to some businesses in Shamei, the delegates developed a strong interest in China’s new model of rural ecological development.

Identified as a beautiful cultural signature of Hainan, Arcade Street depicts the unique street landscape of Haikou to the delegation members.

The trip to Li & Miao Minorities Cultural Heritage Park brought the delegation into the Li and Miao culture of Hainan and the original ethnic customs. The experience of Li’s traditional dyeing and weaving embroidery allow the delegation to be more in touch with the diverse ethnic culture, and enhanced their understanding of China’s ethnic groups.

Visit Museum of September 18th Incident 

The US delegation travelled to Shenyang History Museum of September 18th Incident. The various exhibits in the museum enriched delegates’ understanding of the history of Japanese invasion, the tragedy of enslaved Chinese people and their courageous fights.

Visit Zhao Mausoleum  

The US delegation travelled to Zhao Mausoleum. As the tomb of the second emperor of Qing Dynasty, the magnificent Zhao Mausoleum is a typical mausoleum outside Shanhaiguan Pass during the early period of Qing Dynasty, which exemplifies the rich cultural heritage of Shenyang.

Visit Shenyang Palace Museum 

The US delegation travelled to Shenyang Palace Museum. As the first palace complex of Qing Dynasty, Shenyang Palace Museum features Manchu style and the culture of Northeast China. The delegates enjoyed the rich collections and great elegance of Shenyang Palace Museum during the trip.

Visit National Museum of China 

The US delegation visited National Museum of China. The rich collections and historical materials in one of the museum’s permanent exhibition “The Road of Rejuvenation” enriched the delegates’ understanding of the history of Chinese revolution and self-improvement.

Visit Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art

The US delegation paid a special visit to the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art to see the exhibition of the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening in GuangdongProvince on October 9th. The pictures and videos on display enabled the delegates to fully understand the transformation of Shenzhen from a fishing village to an international metropolisin the 40 years of reform and opening up. And the rich collection and the sense of science and technology of the Museum left a deep impression on the delegates.

Visit Foshan Ancestral Temple 

The characteristic temple architecture won the US  delegation’s great admiration and they all believed that the temple deserved its name as the “Oriental Folk Art Palace”. The delegation also watched the lion dance performance, which was regarded as an outstanding Chinese folk art. This enabled the delegates to understand its cultural significance of expelling the evil and praying for blessings.
