Visit to the Financial & Economic Affairs Committee
On the afternoon of October 9th, the US delegation paid a visit to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress. They were hosted by Vice-Chairwoman Mdm. Wu Xiaoling.
Visit to the China International Institute of Strategic Studies (CIISS)
On the morning of October 10th, Ms. Celeste Gold accepted the invitation from the China International Institute of Strategic Studies (CIISS) and led the delegation for a discussion with the CIISS fellows.
Visit to Hangzhou Municipal Government
On the evening of 14th October, Hangzhou Vice-Mayor Mr. Xie Shuangcheng met with the delegation. Celeste Gold thanked the Hangzhou Municipal Government for its warm reception and hoped that both parties will increase cooperation and exchange in many areas, thereby achieving a win-win situation for both.
CPPCC Shanghai receives Congressional Staff Delegation
On the morning of October 13th, the Secretary of CPPCC Shanghai Mr. Bei Xiaoxi met with the congressional staff delegation. Both parties carried out lively discussion on their topics of interests.
Delegates Visit Amcham Shanghai
During delegates' visit to the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the receiving staff briefed the delegates on American enterprises doing business in China.
Delegates Visit Shanghai Stock Exchange
The delegation made a trip to the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE). The SSE was approved for operation by People’s Bank of China in 1990, thus establishing its foothold as the first mainland stock exchange. During their conversations with SSE’s staff, the delegates gained a deeper understanding of the history of the SSE and its operating uniqueness, and better appreciated Shanghai’s standing as the financial hub of China.
Delegates Visit the G20 Hangzhou Summit Venue
All eleven members of the delegation visited the G20 Hangzhou Summit venue – Hangzhou International Expo Center. There, they paid close attention to the introduction and looked back at the G20 summit that was held just last year.
Visit to Alibaba Headquarters
During the visit to Alibaba Headquarters, relevant personnel from Alibaba introduced in detail to the delegates the company’s history and progress.
Visit to Zhejiang University
The delegation visited the prestigious Zhejiang University where they were received by the Vice-Principal Mr. Yan Jianhua at the Zijin’gang Campus.
Mr. Yan warmly welcomed the delegation to China.
Delegation Tours the Great Wall
On 14th October, the delegation visited one of China’s most spectacular and meaningful tourist destination, the Great Wall of China. The delegation appreciated the deep cultural value of the Great Wall and listened closely to the relevant Chinese history explanation.
Faced with such a magnificent structure, the delegates expressed their sincere amazement.
Delegates tasted China's local delicacies
Food is an integral part of China’s traditional culture. As such, it is a must to bring the delegates to enjoy various Chinese traditional delicacies! The delegation tasted signature dishes that includes dumplings at Shanghai’s Ding Taifeng and the roast duck in Beijing. They expressed their delight at the exquisite flavor of the Chinese food, its variety having left a lasting impression on these delegates.
